This year’s theme is Zero Waste, with a special focus on the 5 Rs of Recycling: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle. Together, we’ll explore practical and creative ways families can reduce waste and live more sustainably.
What to look forward to:
• Interactive kid activities
• Live demonstrations
• Results of our student 5 Rs school contest
• Engaging exhibitors (back by popular demand!)
• And AMAZING door prizes — including tickets to amusement parks, museums, indoor adventure parks, and other fun family experiences!
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details. We can’t wait to see our community come together again for a fun, inspiring, and impactful day!
Let’s make 2026 our most sustainable year yet!

Join the Leftovers Recipe Challenge!
We’re inviting Southbury residents to take part in an exciting community Recipe Challenge — and help turn food scraps and leftovers into something amazing!

🥕 What’s the Challenge?
We’re creating a community cookbook filled with creative, tasty recipes that use:
-
Leftovers from last night’s dinner
-
Surplus ingredients you need to use up
-
Wilting veggies
-
Extra dairy or eggs
-
Food nearing its expiration date
-
Scraps you’d normally toss
If it saves food from the trash — it belongs in this cookbook!
We’ll compile submissions into a community cookbook to share with everyone.
