EyeRecycle Redeemable Bottles and Cans Event

1st Sunday of Every Month

12 pm - 2 pm

800 Main Street South

Southbury, CT 06488

EyeRecycle now requires aluminum cans

to be in separate bags from the plastic bottles

Events are held on the first Sunday of the month.  You may redeem for cash or donate proceeds to the day’s featured fundraiser.

EyeRecycle is a redemption center and pays the full 10 cents per item.  They take anything with a 10-cent refund label, not just what the store sells.  Not sure if it is redeemable? Look near the barcode or recycle symbol to find the label that says “CT 10 Cent REFUND”. There’s no waiting in line to put the containers through a machine. Plus, EyeRecycle makes sure the redeemable items are recycled correctly.

Items Not Accepted

  • Most spirit-based seltzers, or craft beers, because they have not contracted with redemption centers. They must be redeemed at a store that sells that brand.

  • Craft beers - How to identify a craft beer. Look for cans with a label stuck to the flat part of the can rather than a can that is fully painted.

  • 5-gallon milk jugs or anything that does not have a CRTV designation are not accepted.

  • Wine or liquor bottles are not accepted.

EyeRecycle Return where Purchased Flyer

Pre-sorting instructions: Due to the high volume of bottles and cans being redeemed, please help make the line move faster by pre-sorting your items.

Put each of these in a separate bag:

  • Single-serve plastic bottles

  • 1-liter plastic bottles

  • 2-liter plastic bottles

  • Cans - Place all cans in a separate bag

  • All redeemable glass bottles must be in a cardboard container to prevent glass breakage

Express lane: If you use our EyeRecycle bags and have pre-sorted your bottles and cans by size, you may use the express lane.  You simply drop off your bag and get paid.

If you don’t have an EyeRecycle bag, our volunteers will direct you to a separate area and will transfer your bottles and cans into an EyeRecycle bag with a fill line for counting.  Bags cost .50 cents/bag and are available for purchase at the event, at the EyeRecycle website, or at events Sustainable Southbury participates in.

Note: 5-Bag Limit Per Event - Due to overwhelming demand, we kindly ask you to adhere to a 5-bag limit per event. Excess bags can be taken to the redemption center (EyeRecycle Redemption Center, 280 Chase River Rd, Waterbury, CT) or redeemed at our next event. Exception for fundraising donations.

Empty inkjet printer cartridges (not laser) are accepted for recycling at this event.  Bring your used empty cartridges to the event and drop them off in our collection box.  Sustainable Southbury will ship them to a cartridge recycling center and may receive a small donation from the recycler, which will help Sustainable Southbury continue its community work.

Thank you for helping our environment and keeping our community clean!
